Announcing the 'soft launch' of Conference Team

I'm pleased to announce that our new business is finally ready for launch. Conference Team is a brand new division of Networx Corporate Communications Ltd and has been set up to produce public policy conferences to keep the public and private sector informed about important, emerging issues and trends.

Our first conference is on 1 December and looks at 'Promoting Diversity in the Workplace'. We are honoured to have Fiona Mactaggart MP, the Home Office minister for race equality as our first keynote speaker. You can book places online and if you book before the middle of September you benefit from an 'early bird' discount.

Blogging as the new journalism?

James Crabtree, director of Voxpolitics, writes in today's Guardian Online about plans to blog the Labour Party conference. I'm one of the original group to sign up to the idea and will be blogging for the whole conference on my Middleton Park local councillor blog.

Buzz Magazine

A group of American PR students (from memory I think that's who they are) have launched Buzz Magazine. From my first brief glance I think it looks impressive.

Dog shoots man

"Dog shoots man" - even better than "Man bites dog".

Thanks to Canadian communications expert Peter O'Malley for this.

Shel Holtz has picked up on my mention of Buzz and Jeremy Popper has even interviewed Heather Pugh the editor.

BritBlog and Anytown NHS Trust

BritBlog is an interesting round-up of blogs by UK citizens. It also appears that I'm not the only British blogger that is musing. Take a look at Doing less harm, musings from Anytown NHS Trust.

Take part in a global survey on PR measurement and evaluation

This is from a PR email list that I'm on:

I wonder if this group still exists? Is there life out there?

If you are a member of a PR Association, you may have received an invitation
to take part in a global survey on PR measurement. The results will be
published at the Measurement Summit in NH, USA in a couple of weeks.

Replies are coming in from all over the world.

If you have not received an invitation and would like to participate, please
go to  www.benchpoint.com/PR

The survey includes reactions from clients or senior people in your
organisation, so you might consider forwarding this invitation to them as
well.

Best wishes to all - if there's anyone there!
