One of the most knowledgeable communications blogs is by Neville Hobson.
He always has some excellent insights on what he calls the "collision
between new technology and communications".
But this time I'm not entirely convinced. In
NevOn: Apple launches video iPod
he writes that we should "think about video podcasts". Why? In my
humble opinion it's far too early. Far too few of your potential target
audience will be able to view it. And you must always put the needs of your audience first.
That's still the main problem I have with podcasts. I know very few
people with a MP3 player, let alone one that will play video! At least
with audio you can play it on your PC and sit and listen to it as you
work. You can't do that as well with video.
Finally, if you're new to the concept of business podcasts and are
interested in PR and communications then I strongly advise you to check
out Neville and Shel Holtz's fantastic
For Immediate Release podcast.
