Business Podcasting
Daily Telegraph podcast
When the favourite newspaper of retired colonels in Tunbridge Wells starts to podcast you know that podcasts are finally gaining widespread acceptance. The Daily Telegraph podcast is "a single audio download available each day, consisting of three key articles from the day's paper selected by the editor".
I'm not a Telegraph fan so it won't be a regular subscription for me but I will listen to one or two just to get a flavour.

Apple's video iPod, no thanks
One of the most knowledgeable communications blogs is by Neville Hobson.
He always has some excellent insights on what he calls the "collision
between new technology and communications".
But this time I'm not entirely convinced. In NevOn: Apple launches video iPod
he writes that we should "think about video podcasts". Why? In my
humble opinion it's far too early. Far too few of your potential target
audience will be able to view it. And you must always put the needs of your audience first.
That's still the main problem I have with podcasts. I know very few
people with a MP3 player, let alone one that will play video! At least
with audio you can play it on your PC and sit and listen to it as you
work. You can't do that as well with video.
Finally, if you're new to the concept of business podcasts and are
interested in PR and communications then I strongly advise you to check
out Neville and Shel Holtz's fantastic For Immediate Release podcast.

Forrester Research says podcasting is just a passing phase
Ted Schadler is guesting on Charlene Li's blog at Forrester Research and is saying that podcasting is just a passing phase. It is a well-argued post and I think is pretty much on the nail. Too much is made of both blogging and podcasting. Both are very important and are becoming more mainstream but that means the terms might actually change over time. They will simply become part of the web and broadcasting.

BBC is now Skypecasting
Jeff Jarvis reports that it's not just amateur podcasters that are using Skype to record interviews but the BBC as well. The BBC's Kevin Anderson says: "on a good connection, it's a full 44Khz signal, it's just below the quality of the very expensive ISDN broadcast equipment we have."

How do you find the best business podcasts
Potkast is a new service that highlights and helps you to find the best and new podcasts. One thing that I particularly like is its international outlook with podcasts grouped by country. This gives non-American content the prominence that it deserves.
It's obviously early days as it doesn't contain very many podcasts, for example the excellent For Immediate Release: the Hobson and Holtz Report isn't listed.
