Random Musings
Make Google AdWords not war
Slashdot reports "Canada and Denmark using Google as Battleground".
The story is that an advert staking Denmark's claim to Hans Island
links back to the Danish foreign ministry. One in the eye for the
Canadian government's claim. If only we'd had the internet and the
Falklands War might have been entirely different with both sides
bombing web sites instead of ships and people.
(Note the ad no longer appears but my guess is that it is a victim of Slashdot and it has simply gone over its budget quota).

Good design means making it work
Anil Dash makes some good points in How Do We Judge Our Tools?.
I don't have any interest in the tool he is talking about (Quickbooks
works for us) but I do agree strongly that we should always remember to
focus on the benefits. Who
cares if it's AJAX or Ruby on Rails? It could be put together with
sticky tape and nails for all I care, just so long as it does the job
it is meant to, better, faster and cheaper than what it replaces.

London Olympic Victory
Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. The Olympics are coming to London. Thanks to a fantastic job by the bid team Seb Coe, London Mayor Ken Livingstone and Prime Minister Tony Blair.
UPDATE: Cool, note how my 'Back the Bid' banner has automatically updated to 'Thank You'. Good use of internet campaigning.
